It is another beautiful day in our suburban garden. Our kale doubled in size almost overnight, and we had a giant salad with our veggies from the fridge. Today we harvested 3 itty bitty Mexican limes from our mini citrus grove. Also a co-worker brought us a giant pomelo fruit today. She has a tree in her back yard in Orange County, CA and the tree produces an endless supply of these gigantic grapefruit-like fruits. We are looking forward to getting out in the garden before the end of the weekend! Yay!

Just found your blog and enjoyed reading it. I think it's great that you utilize container gardening to grow more veggies!
ReplyDeleteI am always envious of those that can grow citrus. Maybe someday I'll get one of the dwarf varieties and build a greenhouse. One can only dream.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say, R2-D2, he fits in everywhere. Those small limes really play a trick on the eyes. I had to look really hard to figure it out. Your toy must be really small or the grapefruit is very large. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteNice citrus. I have a lone lemon on my tree that is under my grow light. It has been on the tree size last August, growing very slowly.

ReplyDeleteJudy- We're trying to use every little bit of space we have. Seems crowded but everyone seems to like it. And the plants mingle with their neighbors. It's a happy party over in Suburbia.
ReplyDeleteJared- It's possible to do. Also you could have it inside a south facing window. Or wait for global warming :)
LD- Yes the pomelo is gigantic. I tryed to find the best way to convey the size, but it is easier said than done. I could try again except i ate the fruit today. oooops..
Dan- Our tangerine tree had only one fruit during its first year. Now the spring has blessed the tangerine tree with about 20 fruit buds. We'll see how many survive.
Have fun Gardening!!!
